Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. The project has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This project will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," reads an official release.
Launch products will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the players enter the story.
Development on the RPG has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a broader audience, specifically in North America. Production is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical approach. Players leverage abilities to assemble small dice pools, typically from one to five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, players select a single “result die” from the group.
- This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
- Rolling a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Combat Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like taking cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over raw numbers.
A Novel Health System
The way health is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At zero health, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
- They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any player knocked down must roll on a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.
A Ready-to-Play Scenario
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
