The network's Top New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity found an audience and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show follows three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about watching this lovable family navigate their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running layer of irony. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
