The former Liverpool manager states a return to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, now holds positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
They secured England's top flight last season, though countless followers who revere Klopp would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, so I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding the specific conditions would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that took the title last term. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A profound tragedy for the entire squad also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
