Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
